The risk for almost every disease increases as we age but many have been considered ‘normal’ for so long that nobody has stopped to question this shift.  As so many individuals suffer from symptom after symptom, disorder after disorder, visit doctor after doctor with a laundry list of medications and for most no real relief or successful change of overall health!

Chronic Illness Is a Multi-Level and Multi-Symptom Complexity!

Do you suffer from brain fog, depression, anxiety or even pose the question “is my memory failing me again”?

Does pain get in the way from fully enjoying the moment?

Have you gained weight that you can’t lose, no matter how little you eat or how much your exercise?

*Diagnosed with an Autoimmune disorder

*Skin issues such as extremely itchy, rashes, eczema

*Loss of sexual desire and/or sexual function

*Joint discomfort, stiffness, and/or swelling

*Painful muscles

*Frail bones and teeth decay

*Memory and other cognitive issues

*Declining vision and auditory skills

*Decreased energy and increased fatigue

*A weakening immune system, leaving you sick more and more often

*A compromised circulatory system with Cholesterol, blood pressure issues

*A cardiovascular system that has you on medications

*Hormonal imbalances like PMS, PCOS, Acne, fibroids

*Feeling blue and moody

*Dulling, thinning or loss of hair on your head

*Loss of muscle tone and your youthful figure

*Slowed metabolism and perpetual weight gain

Many intelligent individuals pass this off as a normal part of aging because this has become the new norm.  Well...think again.  Research has shown that these conditions, plus many more are symptoms of neurological and gut inflammation.

But in 2011, 54% of children had at least one of 20 chronic health conditions. Sadly, life expectancy is falling and infant mortality is rising as U.S. children are 76% more likely to die before their first birthday than infants in other wealthy countries.  Another fact, is the U.S. ranks dead last in preventable deaths among 19 leading nations.

I will teach you- there’s only one disease caused by the malfunctioning of our cells.  Symptoms are the endpoints of underlying root cause stressors and it is NOT just our genetic predisposition. Genes may load the gun, but STRESS and inflammation caused by crap foods and toxins is what basically pulls the trigger.

Epigenetic research has revealed that we can turn our genes on or off within 3-6 hours by what you eat, by what you do, think, how you sleep, move and top on the ‘secret sauce’ of the quality of your relationships!

What Is Pushing This Wildfire of Inflammation That’s Compromised Too Many of Our Cell's Innate Integrity!

In a 2004 report, the National Research Council and Institute of Medicine called attention to the rising tide of ill health in American children and its long-term implications, warning that “the nation cannot thrive if it has large numbers of unhealthy adults.”

Ten years later, in Lancet Neurology, pediatric experts lamented the pandemic of neuro-developmental toxicity in children that is “silently eroding intelligence, disrupting behaviors, truncating future achievements and damaging societies.”

Leaky Gut, Leaky Brain and Neurological Inflammation

Damage to the gut lining or an imbalance in the probiotic flora can lead to a host of health problems.  Any disruption in your normal gut function, through environmental stressors (such as pesticides and chemical preservatives), poor dietary choices(foods high in carbohydrates, refined sugars, and high fructose corn syrup), food allergies, drug therapies (including NSAIDs, steroids, antibiotics), water(chlorinated, bottled with high arsenic and BPA’s) and chronic stress result in a uncontrolled inflammation tipping the balance of good bacteria.

Being that the gut is the largest organ of the immune system and when the integrity is breached it manifests into a leaky gut syndrome.  As foods, toxins and bacterial proteins cause the proliferation of Candida albicans(yeast) causes this dysbiosis in the gut-associated lymphoid tissue(GALT).  It is in this tissue where immune defenses populate and microglial cells assist in removing cellular debris and harmful microorganisms.

Microglia can release chemicals that lead to inflammation in the brain, which can be damaging to the brain if the inflammation becomes chronic.  When there’s more toxic inflammation going directly into the bloodstream because of this leaky gut syndrome there’s more that permeates through the blood-brain barrier.

Thus The Brain’s Function Is Intimately Tied To The immune System and The Gut-Brain Axis Exists.

The gut-brain connection is no joke; it can link anxiety to stomach problems and vice versa. Have you ever had a "gut-wrenching" experience? Have you ever felt "butterflies" in your stomach? We use these expressions for a reason. The gastrointestinal tract is sensitive to emotions and it is where our happy chemical, serotonin is produced.  Anger, anxiety, sadness, fear — all of these feelings (and others) can trigger symptoms in the gut’s own direct switch to the nervous system which instantaneously communicates directly to the brain.

As a Certified Gluten-Free Practitioner and

An American Drugless Practitioner

I am focused on what research and data have discovered…”All disease begins in the gut”. It also tells a different story on the root causes of what is causing an epidemic of silent inflammation that is destroying more brains and creating bellies and bodies that are seriously out of balance.

What we don’t notice, can hurt us as many people believe that as long as we can eat bread without any belly problems(cramping, bloating or digestive distress) there must be no harm done!  Do not be fooled by this dangerous myth as nearly 50% of newly diagnosed celiac patients have no digestive symptoms.

Wheat Is Not Our Friends and Today It Is

Not Worthy Of Consumption Without Worry!

Many who do suffer Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity cannot consume even the slightest speck of wheat without severe digestive pain… and other embarrassing symptoms, but for me, this was not the complete case and it was my memory and hormonal issues that were upfront and personal.

Other illnesses, like Crohn’s and inflammatory bowel disease, also result in debilitating cramping, bloating and other digestive distress when wheat is consumed.

Protecting and Nourishing Gut Microbiota

Influences Our Immune System

There’s an army of trillions of organisms that live in the gut.  This microbiome is influenced by the type of birth, the foods consumed, the use of medications and antibiotics and emotional stress.  There is a relentless bombardment that is confusing the immune system that is under constant attack and this is how cells begin to mistakenly recognize its own tissues as foreign and not friend.

And why we see a rise in Auto-Immune Disorders:

  • Allergies(Food Sensitivities, Gluten)

  • Anxiety/Stress

  • Asthma

  • Brain Disorders(depression, brain fog, Parkinson’s)

  • Cardiovascular Disease

  • Cancer

  • Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis

  • Graves Disease

  • Rheumatoid Arthritis and Psoriatic Arthritis

  • Chronic fatigue

  • Metabolic Syndrome(high cholesterol, blood pressure, and insulin resistance)

  • Multiple Sclerosis

  • Skin Rashes(Acne, Eczema, and Dermatitis)

  • Systemic Lupus

  • Pre-Diabetes and Diabetes

We are all brought into this world with an immune function called innate immunity, the first line of protection against disease. This is the fast-acting response to an invading antigen – germ, bacteria, or virus – blocking it from ever spreading to the body to become an illness.  Mucous snares them, stomach acid and enzymes can shut down or kill them, and coughing can remove them.

The body's number one priority is the immune system that’s entwined with the circulatory, lymphatic, endocrine, digestive, neurological, and integumentary systems, to name a few. One action always influences many processes, and for the immune system specifically, it can have far encompassing results. The most important thing is, the whole body works together energetically in an interconnectedness.

Aging gracefully, with abundant energy and vitality is our birthright if we align ourselves with what nature provides us and access the greatest pharmacy within that exists as our mindset!

“Your health relies on continuous flow…

The world we live in today accelerates the aging process beyond belief as our cells and precious organs are in constant danger as their exposure is compromised by continually being bombarded by toxins, environmental stressors, and stressful lifestyles.  As inflammation blocks the cells receptor sites.

Your health relies on the continuous and balanced exchange of energy in the body.  Every function of the body and mind is interrelated and works in harmony with the cell's unique communication abilities- that is until stress, injury or disease disrupts that communication.  If your cells and other aspects of the physical body are missing vital information the body processes breakdown resulting in symptoms of the disease.

The basic premise for healing is to give the body the proper information and energy sources it needs to become the building blocks necessary for true health.  Then dynamically the body’s own innate ability to repair, restore and rebalance can occur, creating homeostasis within.

Food is information and when eating well is our way of nourishing the body and mind.

A diet that is more plant-based sourced from the sun, enriched in minerals from the ground and full of essential fiber in which it keeps the digestive tract optimally functioning.

The most important thing we can do to improve upstairs-downstairs communication is to create a happy gut from a variety of legumes and produce that simply helps populate the good bacteria.

Food matters, digestion matters more as easily digestible and nutrient-dense whole foods are the cornerstone of an ideal nutrition plan.   When we have efficient digestion and assimilation it will eliminate excess work for the body-boosting our metabolic processes.

Life is about balance…Reflect on, are you getting sufficient sunlight, fresh air, enough movement, quality food, water, social time, creative play, connecting with loved ones and quieter mindful moments?

You can’t eliminate all the stress in the world… but you can develop better-coping skills.

We multitask to exhaustion and massively over-schedule ourselves and our children. Chronic sleep deprivation is one of the greatest risk factors for depression, accelerating oxidative stress even for teenagers.  Remind your kids - and yourself - it's OK to stop with ALL the mind cluttering devices.   Create quiet, calm places to pause, possibly meditate, both at home and at work.  Back away from your devices and unplug and your brain will thank you with more energy. Reducing mobile tech time will also limit your EMF and radiation exposure.

Everything we sense, interpret and react to from our environment is coordinated by our Nervous System. We need to do better to learn how to relax the brain waves as stress matters most as if the mind perceives that the environment is safe and supportive the cells focus on growth and healing!

You can’t eliminate all the stress…

This is just a small snippet of the mind-body approach to your wellness.  As I say to so many of my clients…” find the good in the bad and the happy in the sad.”

You Don't Have to Choose Between Conventional

Health Care and Alternative Medicine.

I find that it helps to advocate with your doctors as I believe in— let’s test, not guess. The beauty of integrative medicine is that we use stress-reducing modalities, natural, safe nutraceuticals that work best because natural solutions do not produce metabolites that your body can not breakdown and store as mucus, AKA-inflammation.   We draw from many traditions of Energy medicine,  Ayurveda, and Traditional Chinese Medicine, and I will not ask you to abandon conventional remedies when needed.  But when you begin to feel better, do better…the need for medications diminishes.

Real food is real medicine.

The original holistic doc, Hippocrates, said it best: “Let thy food be thy medicine.” There are more health-promoting factors in a bowl of berries than in any drug on earth. What else has the power to prevent cancer, heart disease and diabetes? Only nutrient-dense real whole foods that are not processed, pesticide-ridden GMO’s which are also known as ‘Frankenfoods’.

It’s all about quality versus calorie, consisting of more locally grown organic fruits, leafy greens and vegetables that provide micronutrients and minerals that keep your body and brain in balance.

As an Integrative Nutritionist, there’s no one diet fits all as the state of health makes for different diets for various folks.

Food sensitivities are a big part of an immune response and become part of removing the culprits that cause red flags to raise.  More than 18 million Americans are suffering from some form of gluten sensitivity, and such sensitivity can lead to conditions as minor as a rash to serious neurological disorders.  As for me and two of my children, this was an awakening and not a new-age fad backed with significant science on the effects on one’s health that it can take.

Gluten is a sticky protein molecule that can be found in wheat, barley, rye, and many of the grains. It is found in more than just bread products and one can not rely on food package labels alone. There are also certain proteins that have a similar molecular structure that can cause an immune response and lead to nutrient deficiencies.

Ample absorption is also key from a balanced diet builds NEW tissues, harvests energy, synthesizes hormones and neurotransmitters plus helps detoxify metabolites.

  • Add in Antioxidants - to cut down the natural aging oxidation process.

  • Go with More Glorious Greens - as these mineral-rich sources are the catalysts for optimal metabolic functioning.

  • Pile on the Protein - provides the amino acids that the body and mind need in conjunction with good bacteria to make chemicals like GABA, dopamine, and serotonin.

  • Feed on Fermented Foods - this is fiber for the good bacteria to proliferate.

  • Get a Dose of Inulin - soluble fiber that’s a superfood for healthy bacteria.

  • Feast on Healthy Fats - the brain is 60% fat and dietary fat is brain food.

Food is information…

As a large amount of nutritional stress is relieved, symptoms such as general fatigue and sugar or starch cravings dwindle as your digestive enzyme engine is fueled it allows the metabolic functioning to go into overdrive.

The premise here is simple…stress reduction through better nutrition or you can eat your way to happiness as certain food feeds into one’s mood.  Stress hormones require nutrients too.  Poor diets put a demand on the adrenal glands and therefore causes production of the stress hormone cortisol which is directly linked to inflammation.

We know higher levels of cortisol also weaken the cellular tissue causing degeneration, lower the immune response, increase the risk of disease, reduces good sleep quality and becomes the catalyst for the accumulation of yes…body fat.

REAL FOOD IS REAL MEDICINE

Prevention trumps treatment as if you’re NOT in this awakening mode then you may be paving the way for health decline and be chasing disease!

All the major health issues we see – heart disease, diabetes, cancer – are much more amenable to preventive lifestyle strategies (nutrition, exercise, rest and mind-body medicine) than to expensive, quick-fix medications that create disharmony within, downstream.  Whenever possible, I recommend to my clients what I call the “Simple Life Rx Solutions”— prescribing wellness strategies such as gardening, walking in nature, yoga, meditation and infrared sauna sessions to assist in detoxification and overall better body balance.

There are proven powerful denominators that support one’s overall mind and body, but each and everyone receives Personalized Care.

As I have studied Integrative Nutrition through the lens of each person being bio-individual.  Using functional testing and tools to determine the root cause of your dis-ease. We isolate the key imbalances that are responsible for virtually all of the symptoms you’re experiencing at the moment. Then it’s all about working together to take care of the underlying stressors that disrupt cellular balance and healing.

Holistic Nutrition and Wellness Takes a Focused Attention and Implementation

Real change is hard work, but the more one puts into this effort equates to what one will get out of their time and I can tell you personally, it’s worth it when you ‘FEEL GOOD’!

Nurturing yourself and self-care is essential for your well-being.  To really THRIVE and live our best lives, we must prioritize even to take care of the other precious people in our lives with the up-most abundance.

Another mantra I tell my clients and they often see how well this works…”It’s vital that you put on your oxygen mask first and your loved ones will follow when they see you are doing and feeling better!”

Prevention trumps treatment

“Change is good” was the mantra that began in the late 1990s yet we’re still struggling with long-term, sustainable changes in what I like to call the ‘sick-care’ system. The health you desire will be proportional to the effort you put in.  Altering long-standing unhealthy patterns of eating, sleeping and lack of exercise take time and commitment. But it's lifestyle changes that ultimately work in the long term. I’ve seen it time and time again – quick weight loss and maximum intensity workout programs often lead to a prescription to illness and injury. Instead, invest in working with a health practitioner or a coach who will partner with you to take the slow but steady steps towards optimal health.

Interesting facts, on average, it can take 5 years to finally find appropriate doctors who can get a confirmed Celiac diagnosis.  Clinical breakthroughs can average a decade before they become standard care. Today we know that it is the spraying of glyphosate on our grains which is oil-based and not washing off which is ripping apart the guts lining. It leads to dysbiosis disrupting nutrient absorption, influences the immune system and this breakdown allows larger lipopolysaccharides, pathogens, inflammatory toxins that I call ‘dirty blood’ syndrome from a Leaky Gut.

Root Cause Resolution and Rewiring with a New Mindset

Rather than only masking symptoms that are your bodies cry that it needs attention.  It becomes a matter of connecting the dots to the symptoms in order to focus on root cause resolution.  As one of my Functional mentors referred — it requires the practitioner to put on our ‘detective caps’ to determine a clinical approach to what is the cause of the dysfunction.

Root cause resolution…

I hope this quote resonates with you — “You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”  Steve Jobs

Treating your body compassionately, understanding it is made up of conscious cells that are actively listening.  If a cell is in good health, its signal will be harmonious and resonate in a free manner with other cells in the body.  If a pathogen(toxin, virus, parasite, emotional toxin, etc) attacks a cell then the signal coming from the cell becomes distorted. Simply said, our brain is wired to be able to re-circuit itself by the constant thoughts, beliefs, and actions that we implement.

It is a mind-body approach as well as intertwining the spiritual aspect of health. It can be Christ-centered but beyond thoughts are our higher beliefs, purposes in life, doing good for others as love and gratitude are of the highest vibrations.  By living in inner awareness of love, grace, peace, faith, hope, and forgiveness we will be healthier and happier.

As science has proven that the HBF(human body-field), each organ and tissue emits various frequencies. Technology has developed a way to trace these vibrations in measures of Mhz.  We are emotional beings that feel first with our hearts and this emotional stimulus can cause issues in our tissues.  There is real relevance to how our organs and tissues hold onto emotions which become vital in how dis-ease becomes embedded at the root of any condition.

A negative mind will never give you a positive life as one negative thought only leads to another negative response!  This is how my background began as an Alternative Energy Healer and I continue to use this pillar to help you Redesign your health by adjusting attitudes towards Rewiring the brain.

Get in the habit of asking yourself does this support the life I’m trying to create?

You may just need a holistic lifestyle coach that will support you towards staying balanced on those stepping stones towards creating healthier habits and letting go of the excuses and emotions to which we are human - spiritual creatures living in a physical body.  Therefore, we can not treat the physical body alone.

Let’s get to the underlying stressors, the root cause of your environmental, emotional and physical place that might have you, stuck in the muck!  When you awaken your inner Guru and discover better balance, mindfulness you will also we figure out how and what exactly you consciously want out of this incredible one life we are given…it’s a GIFT.

Learn to live it well and you will feel good, my friends!!   Peace
